State Federation grows by 13%
The Louisiana Federation of Teachers won a prestigious Carl Megel Award for growth at an American Federation of Teachers national conference on November 13.
LFT took second place honors for expanding membership by 13% over the past year. The Federation now numbers more than 20,000 teachers and school employees, and is the largest education organization in the state.
LFT President Steve Monaghan accepted the award from AFT Secretary-Treasurer Antonia Cortese at the annual meeting of state Federation presidents. The conference, held at the Lowes Hotel in New Orleans, ended on November 15.
